NAAKIMS Founded
A group of visionary medical students at the University of Uyo established NAAKIMS — creating a brotherhood and sisterhood bound by shared identity, academic ambition, and service to humanity.
First National Convention
NAAKIMS held its inaugural national convention in Uyo, uniting medical students from three universities and laying the constitutional framework that continues to guide the association.
Multi-Chapter Expansion
The movement spread beyond Akwa Ibom, establishing chapters at UNICAL, UNILAG, UNN, and UI — transforming NAAKIMS into a truly nationwide network of medical student excellence.
International Expansion to Ghana
NAAKIMS crossed national borders with the founding of the University of Cape Coast chapter in Ghana — a transformative moment that redefined the association as a pan-African movement.
Bursary Programme Launched
The annual bursary programme was officially established to provide financial support to outstanding students demonstrating academic excellence and genuine financial need across all chapters.
Nationwide Recognition
NAAKIMS earned formal recognition across 9 states with 12+ active chapters, hosting national conventions, health outreaches, academic symposiums, and mentorship programmes that shaped hundreds of careers.
Northern Nigeria Chapters Founded
Two new chapters were inaugurated at ABU Zaria and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto — a historic breakthrough in the mission to make NAAKIMS truly pan-Nigerian.
Largest Convention in History
Over 2,000 delegates gathered in Uyo for the landmark 2025 National Convention, featuring academic symposiums, community outreach to thousands of residents, cultural celebrations, and the inauguration of a new executive council.
